Electrical roof problems
Hi all,
I've had a bit of epic trying to understand what is wrong with my roof. FYI its a 2003 Boxster S. Car locked, doors shut, windows up, roof up. Unlock car, open either door, windows drop as if roof is moving. Ignition on, unclip roof, reclip roof, windows come up. Opening windows with roof clipped causes windows to drop to roof opening position. Only uncliping and recliping roof causes them to go up fully. All fuses are fine (tested with multimeter) Handbrake sensor is fine centre roof microswitch is fine (tested with multimeter) As far as I can see there is no microswitch on the roof drive motor As far as I can see there is no b-pillar microswitch With a smartop relay, unclipping the roof causes the windows to drop, holding the roof down button causes voltage to be applied to motor. Holding the roof up button does not cause an opposite voltage to be applied. With a original relay, unclipping the roof causes the windows to drop, holding the roof down button causes NO voltage to be applied to motor. Holding the roof up button does cause an opposite voltage to be applied. So I can either lower the roof, or raise it, but not both. HELP - any ideas? I tried using a testing diagnostic on the relay pins but it was for an older version. Does anyone have a test plan for a 2003 boxster? Thanks in advance! John |
