I have a 97 Boxster, which i am unable to lock using the key fob the light on the key flashes but will not lock the car or set the alarm. If i put the key in the door, it will lock but as i unlock the key to get in the alarm goes off. I was told it was the battery on the key which i replaced.I have even had a new door barrel and new key .Which has been programmed.to great expence .The central locking switch in the car works which locks the doors. The Hood ,Windows , and interior lights work fine Help me as it is so frustrating .

I had the same problem with my 996 (which is very similar to the Boxster). The issue was that one or more of the door electric switches was not working properly, so the car *thought* that the door was ajar when it wasn't. The car would beep and then not lock the car. You didn't mention if yours was beeping or not. If not, then the key fob may have lost registration with the car's internal alarm. Unfortunately, the only way to reset / reprogram the key is with the factory tools, and most people don't have them. The dealer can check / reprogram the key if you think that's the problem, but they typically charge for that as well.

Part #: 3B1-837-015-E-OEM is this part correct for a 1997 Porsche Boxster door lock mechanism and is there a right and left or are they interchangeable? I hear the Drivers side lock, no sound from pass. side lock, then the driver's side unlocks right away, bad door lock. mech. on the pass. side?
