97 boxster water found in transmission

Hi update from earlier post.Have 97 boxster not long purchased.Dropped oil in transmission, found signs of water and slight rusting.Realize should be flushed heat exchange/oil cooler changed. But wondering if anyone has recovered from this.Transmission shops are saying will need rebuild. If so is it worth getting second hand tiptronic,or will the ones sitting in wreckers be rusting inside also.Any advise welcome.Cheers

Firstly, where are you. Which state etc we can maybe recommend a good non dealer repairer for you.
Second, does the tranny make any strange noises.
Why not try replcing the fluid a couple of times and take the car for a long drive so the tranny gets hot. If the corrosion is only slight maybe a good long drive where all gears are used may help wear the corrosion off the metal sufaces.
There is currently a 98 2.5 on ebay. Car is in Sydney and all parts are available.
If you are Sydney based, try Bob Whyms Auto in Seven Hills.

Thank's for response,i am down the southern end of N.S.W. Was thinking of changing out transmission cooler and changing the fluid a couple of times. Also as you said maybe a googd run.But wondering if i would ever get all the old fluid out of torque converter. As what i have read so far seems hard to flush the normal way?Even know costly on fluid alot cheaper than other options. Cheers

Why not try calling Bob Whyms Auto and see if they can recommend a Canberra based repairer, or any other advice they may give you.
