Cylinder #1 Misfire

hi guys,
I hope you can help. I have a 1998 Boxster that we use to complete in NASA's GTS2 group in the Great Lakes area. Two weeks ago it kicked out a misfire in cylinder #1, i replaced both O2 sensors and cleaned the mass air flow sensor and pulled the coil on plug to check the plug. When i pulled the coil out it looked like it was split just under when you attach it to the vavle cover and some of the material on the inside of the coil had oozed out. This was a brand new coil, it had maybe 2 hours on it.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what the issue is or how to correct it?? It is only on cylinder #1.

Thank you,
Mark
