Boxster restart problem

BOXSTER (97) STARTS AND RUNS FINE. BUT, ON OCCASION, AFTER RUNNING AT NORMAL TEMP. WILL NOT RESTART UNTIL ENGINE COOLS (45MIN) THEN, IT RUNS PERFECT. IS THIS A POSSIBLE CRANK IMPULSE SENSOR PROBLEM. AND WOULD A DURAMETRIC SPOT THIS PROBLEM. AT THIS POINT, THINK I SHOULD BUY ONE. ANY SUGGESTIONS? IS DURAMETRIC THE WAY TO GO? ALSO, A PROBLEM WITH THE INSIDE DOOR LOCK SWITCH RED LIGHT ON CAUSING LEFT WINDOW TO NOT RETRACT WHEN OPENING AND CLOSING DOOR. ALSO EFFECTS KEY AND HEADLIGHT CHIME FUNCTION, AND ALARM FUNCTION (HORN SOUNDS ALARM FUNCTION INSTEAD OF FLASHING TAIL LIGHTS)...DURAMETRIC DETECT THIS PROBLEM? THANKS FOR ANY INFO...

Nice looking ride. We have the same taste. Mine is the same color combo/ I really like the way the side ducts look. Instead of being all black.
Anyway. You may find this thread helpful. The Durametric tool does not give any codes for it. But still a great tool to have. I highly recommend it. As far as the door lock light. The Duramtric tool will just indicate alarm failure. You'll have to take that problem to someone with the a Genuine Porsche diagnostic tool. Like the dealer or a local indy shop. Good luck with your problems.

My paint is not in near as good condition as yours. Not that shiny and the hood is losing it's clear coat. Bad repaint from before I bought it. I'm going to fix that sometime. The previous owner was a lady and the word maintenance was apparently foreign to her. LOL.
Here's a link to my learning curve. It may be helpful to you down the road. I'm not an expert on these things, by any means. But am gaining quite a bit of experience. Have fun with your new ride. I have!!!

Starting problem is still in limbo, but with a few more clues. Took boxster to napa today to be diagnosed . Would not restart at shop but code po102 showed mass air flow circuit low input. Recommended to replace mass air flow sensor and/or crank angle sensor. After an hour was able to restart engine but was hard to keep it running (not cooled enough for a sure start) heard misfiring and ran high rpm to keep it running. On the road home, ran fine, no misfire, but noticed a gas smell at stop light. After parking at home, tried to restart and restarted perfect. Fifteen min later, will not start!
Removed underside plastic to replace water pump 3 wks ago and did not replace damaged panel? One thought that fuel lines are overheating. Next, replace crank sensor or air flow sensor. With clues, i would guess airflow first. ALSO, previous records 08/08 indicated fault codes indicated 02 sensor cyl 4-6, 02 range cyl 1-3. recommended replacement of forward oxy sensors. where to start?
