Didn't even get the car and already looking at upgrades....
Waiting for delivery of the 01 Boxster, I buying for the wife. First thing I want to do is replace the radio. Since I'm always complaining to my wife about her phone usage while driving and since she's always lost, my main features must be bluetooth and nav. After comparing a few here's what I come up with
JVC's KW-NT3HDT: JVC KW-NT3HDT Navigation receiver at Crutchfield.com My plan is to remove the radio and useless cup holder. 2 questions: 1. Is the installation of a 2 din system a direct fit, do I need an installation kit? Will the typical trim piece cover everything or leave any gaps? 2. Is there an available harness for these cars. I hate tapping into the OEM harness. I also plan on replacing the speakers, amps and maybe adding a small sub. Any advise will help, thanks....

Here's a possible tip on a subject I'm not certain about with your NAV unit but something you may want to ask questions about. Porsche has a ground system that is tied into the radio, NAV (I believe) and alarm/lock-down systems. Many a Boxster owner has changed out their radio to a radio/nav system that wasn't grounded properly and they start having intermittent alarm issues and complete lock-down issues so I would investigate further, ask a lot of questions and make certain the installer knows what they are doing.

sub
there is a sub box that fits in the back of the leg/foot area of the passenger side. I had one in my 99 and was quite impressed with it. You would never know it was even there as the carpet was matched to the floor. I saw a few on ebay for around 3bills. Mind you, it was an empty box
