Strange chirping noise, IMS? NO! Thanks Forum!!!
2001 986 80k daily driver started making a chirping noise proportional to rpm. I have been reading all of the IMS reports and feared the worst. I ran momentarily without acc belt and the noise was still there. This ruled out pulleys. I then remembered reading a post about someone with a similar issue and it ended up being a loose spark plug. I checked the plugs on the drivers side and sure enough I had a loose plug! Loud chirp gone! I would have never looked at the plugs without this forum! I still have the original clutch at 80k so I am planning to do the IMS retrofit kit when I do the clutch very soon. Has pelican parts started to sell their kit yet? THANKS FORUM!

The test car has completed about 5000-6000 miles, we've had the oil changed and everything checked. So, this is coming back onto my list for November...
