Headers fault

I have just purchased these headers that you see in the photos. The add I looked at showed a different set with all pipes in one piece and not joined halfway like you can see one of them is in the photos. It wouldn't be to bad if it was a good job but as you can see its not. I wont be happy fitting these on my car I would not have bought them if I had seen a photo first . They were bought as a brand new set of headers.
Just thought I could get a few comments off you guys to see what you think. The person I bought them off knows I am not happy with them.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1323817089.jpg

It takes a fairly high skill level to weld stainless steel. Judging from the weld fillets on these headers, the welder's skill level was at the "beginner" level. We have a couple of welders here at work who weld stainless hermetic joints every day - they were not impressed. Get your $$ back.

Thanks Alk, your comments don't surprise me. I intend to get my ££s back I live in the UK. Just thought it would be good to get a few expert opinions.

I am guessing you did not pay 1500 too 2000 for the set so I would say you got a very decent set of headers. Welds look perfectly acceptable to me. In fact very nice for the most part. You are not going to see them anyway. As long as they are structurally sound and fit put them on and stop worrying. Just my 2 cents. Good luck either way.

Even if it can't be seen when installed and perform as expected, the fact that the product itself is different from the advertised picture is not acceptable.

And he has the dyno runs to back up the 22HP increase?

turboflyer 12-15-2011 09:11 PM

So they cannot be returned because.............?

Sawfish780 12-16-2011 05:23 AM

Is this perhaps an OBX product?

They look just like the Chinese set I got from eBay brand new for $75. I ordered them just to see what they were like. They are not bad quality in my opinion, particularly considering the cost. I showed them to a well respected mechanic, and he thought they cost $2K.

Thanks

I would like to thank you all for your input. It is the principle hear really not the actual cost of the headers, CHRIS JP expressed how I view the matter.
The person I bought them off has agreed to a full refund though, so thats good.
When you look at these headers you just wonder, how could they be produced for so little money even though the welding is as ALK put it "beginners level"stuff.
I am considering having a repair job done on them now, just something to muse over in the next couple of weeks. Wayne could be right they may be from China.
