Boxster turns over but wont fireHi all, wonder if any one could help
Hi all i wonder if anyone could help, I'm running a 2.5 1997 Boxster it has covered 150,000 miles but always kept serviced, the other day i fired her up and it ran lumpy then cleared i assumed because it had sat a while, I then tried again yesterday and it fired then died, and now it wont fire, it turns over, i cant here the fuel pump buzz, and there seems to be a strange electrical/hum from engine compartment, I took out fuel pump relay and bridged 30-87, the fuel pump runs but it still will not fire, I only changed the coil packs 6mths ago.
Can any body please help, Also when it was running it always idled lumpy and there is a gasy smell and the obii reader says it has multiple cylinder misfire but it drives lovely. Ive looked on the net and it seems this is a common fault which no one can get there head around including Porsche/Porsche North America. Thanks every one and happy Xmas Cheers Darren |

Hi, I'm afraid there is now no codes in the car, Ive got a horrible feeling I may of accidentally erased them. sorry, I just remember it said 4 codes each picking a particular cylinder with a misfire.

I've seen some other posts where folks had cars that cranked well but wouldn't start and it turned out to be the fuel pump. There is a test port on the fuel rail where you could hook up a gauge.

Still no joy, sorry if i sound thick but I cant remember if the fuel pump primes when you first turn the ignition on, if it does then I may be getting fuel starvation of sorts, any ideas?
