I have a 1999 996 that I put in storage last month. I went to check on it today and the key won't unlock the doors, it always worked before, so I changed the battery. I noticed that there is blinking red lights in the middle the dash also. how do I open the door when there is no place to insert the key.

Hmm, all Boxsters and 996s that I have seen have a keyhole in the driver's side door, although it may be covered by a small body-colored plug. I would take a closer look, or post a photo of your door handle here.

sorry Wayne, I didn't think the plug was able to come out. pryed it out with a thin spatula with masking tape on it and everything was fine.
I feel silly but never knew that was only plugged I do have your 101 projects for 911's and awaiting the 996 book coming out this year. thanks |
