Blinking light on gear dash

I have a blinking light from D to 4 on the gear selector dash. Also the car has not power. I had the car a PI mechanic shop, in connecticut, after they replaced the IMS, water pump and other parts, they "flushed" the transmission with new oil. They said that the transmission and the engine are not communicating and the tranny is in a limp???????. I took the car home in a trailer, I am almost 3 hours from that shop and dont want to come back, that is when I realized the lost of power. Could somebody explain what could I do? DME. TPC, tranny flush again? if somebody ask, I dont want to go to the dealer, at least in RI, where I live. I want to try it anything first. Any advice is going to be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance
