Can I replace the brake fluid without using the PST2 or Durametric?
I am planning on changing the brake fluid on my 05 Boxster with the PSM. I read the article in the book and was wondering if it is necessary to use those softwares. I do have the durametric and only used it once to remove the service sign. It wasn't user friendly and don't want to mess other things up. What can possibly go wrong if I don't use the software?

You do not need to activate any systems to bleed the brakes and clutch hydraulics. Use of a PST II/PIWIS/Durametric for activation is only required if you have gotten enough air into the system that it has entered the ABS/PSM pump and control network.

That's correct. You *should* be able to do a bleed / swap of fluid as long as no air gets into the system. If air gets in, then you need to put the car into bleed mode...
