Changing Boxster Plugs

Has anyone changed their spark plugs and kept track of how long it takes? I don't have tools or a place to work anymore so I have to pay someone to do the work on my car and I'm getting some expensive quotes for labor. I've got the plugs as I won them in a contest but Indy shops are quoting me $221-240 to do the labor and figuring their hourly at $110-120/hr. that's two hours to change them. Does it take that long?

2 hours is probably not far off, you have to remove rear wheels and fender liner to gain access, at least on my 05 I had to do this.

I have a 1999 and changed them just by removing the wheels. About 2 hours total time. All you need is a socket wrench and an extension. Don't remember the length of the extensions I used. I think I posted it in my Diary of a 99 Boxster thread though.

I would say 1 hr to do the plugs and an extra hour to do the tubes.

Two hours for a shop would be about right. Lets face it they are in business to make money and $240 for an NCAL shop is cost of entry. I was once told by a shop owner "If you bring me the parts I will make up any money I lost through labor"

That being said it is pretty easy so if you can find a driveway to do it there are no special tools needed.

So it's sounding like two hours is not out of line for this procedure. Do the tubes have to be changed? My understanding is they do not unless they are leaking. On a recent tour of Zentrum Motors, with the Golden Gate Region, I got a free oil change gift certificate so I'll let them change them out and give them some business for the freebie. Thanks for all the input.
