Will deleting secondary cats throw a code???

Hi all,

I'm finally getting around to fixing that ever so annoying rattle I have in my exhaust. It looks like the material in one of my secondary cats is loose. I hear it when I goose the motor from idle, when accelerating and when I let off on the throttle to down shift. I'm either going to gut the secondary cats or put in cat delete pipes. My question is will this cause me any problems with throwing codes??? I currently have the stock primary cat/headers and am running a Borla exhaust. My car sounds like a rattling POS and I just can't stand the embarrassment any more. On a good note.....you don't often hear the rattle from inside the car:)

Thanks!

Jeff

it won't throw a code, but you might have trouble passing smog.
i have cat bypass pipes and twice in a row *barely* passed (but I passed)

Thanks, we have no emission testing here in sunny South Carolina. I just can't stand any warning lights being on and the electrical tape fix just isn't meant for a Porsche. I guess I'll get some cat delete pipes made in case I move or sell it to someone who will need to get it emission tested. Of course, will a cat with it's innards loose pass emissions anyways? I'd rather just get the Fab Speed exhaust but there just aren't enough penny's in the bank account for that at the moment.

You won't experience any CEL as there are no sensors after the secondary cats.

Only thing you'll gain is some sound and performance.

I combined a 200 CPI primary cat (no CEL either) with elimination of secondary cats and am satisfied, you won't need a sports exhaust after that :-)

I also added the 90 degree single tail pipes for some better flow and avoidance of exhaust stream collision.. but not sure that'll do much diference..
