Radiator Screen
Much as I loathe looking at Porsche related aftermarket garbage from China on e-Bay one thing did catch my attention. Some feller is selling a mesh screen that will fit in the radiator openings on the front bumper to prevent debris collecting in front of the radiator itself. This issue has been a sore point with me on the Boxster for a while as I'm always vacuuming out leaves, rocks and other nasty bits from the opening.
This appears to be an answer for me. Anyone have any experience with these mesh screens before I put something non-factory on the car? |

You don't say what year and model of Boxster you have but I bought mine, for my '99 base Boxster from Automobile Atlanta. I bought them because the bumper does not have to be removed to mount them they have a butterfly clamp on a long screw that attaches to the back of the grill and tightens them down. They also have a rubber ring around them so your paint isn't damaged. I sprayed mine with a plastic, black truck bed coating I got at Autozone. They look decent and do the job, I also like the black look of the front intakes instead of the faded gray they turn into after a few years.

Hey, Ronster.... I just looked around on Automobile Atlanta anc can't find an accessory like your screens. Do you remember precisely what they're called? I searched for "screens", "radiator screens", etc. and can't find anything.... got any hints? Thanks.

Ah... I think I discovered why. Not listed for the 987. I have a 2008 S. Bummer. Thanks.

and there is no center screen for the S. Double Bummer. I may just get the two outside inlet screens anyway as I hate that Chinese e-Bay garbage.

Quick related question......what color did the front grills come from the factory? Did they match the grill for the intake at one time? Satin black? I have a 2002 S and really don't like the look of the silver grills at all!
Thanks, Jeff |
