Rattling / knocking noise

I have a 2003 Boxster that has a rattle / knocking noise that sounds to be coming from an area over my left shoulder when driving. The sound is more noticeable on uneven roads. I've had the suspension checked at the rear with no faults found. Any ideas?

check the cables that retract the covertible top. They get misaligned. Seems to be a common fault. Easy fix. Good luck

I agree; loosen the bolts (only slightly) for the convertible cover and then put the top all the way closed. Push the now closed cover firmly into the adjustable stops. ALso, make sure also that the stops are unscrewed enough that the convertible cover cannot wiggle. Then put the top in the service position and re tighten. That may be the culprit.

Also, I had a knock that drove me crazy. It was the wooden floor covers in the trunk. However it sounded like it was coming from the suspension. Took them out and the noise was gone.

Good luck!

Curt

Interesting, never thought about that.
Could you be a bit more specific as to where to look for (eg post, drawing or picture). Tks
