Another question about detecting RMS fail

I have attached my durametric reading from "Turd" my '01 Boxster S (67,000km). These values don't seem at all like what the other discussions refer to. Are they okay?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1332806508.jpg

Camshaft Position 1 deviation = -3.39
Camshaft Position 2 deviation = -2.20
Actual angle for Camshaft bank 1 = -0.47
Actual angle for Camshaft bank 2 = 0.03

Should I be worried? Or relieved?

Those numbers all look good the cam deviations are holding steady within the allowed +-6 deg. the actual angle for cams are going to move all over the place. You are looking good

We know you meant IMS bearing failure. RMS is just an oil leak and has no relationship to camshaft deviation.

You guys are fast! Yes, it occurred to me right after I submitted my post that I referred to RMS (rear main seal) rather than IMS (Intermediate shaft bearing). That's what happens when a "do it yourselfer" wants to tinker with his Porsche!

Major sigh of relief out of me knowing that my Durametric readings are not pointing to a IMS bearing failure. No guarantees I'm sure, but its better than having a poor reading and then "rolling the dice" or changing the clutch and IMS/RMS just as the weather gets good around here!

Thanks for the help mikefocke and harryrcb!

Now if I can just get it to quit stalling......
