Struggling to put the alternator back - any tips?

Took the alternator off from 2000 boxster and it was voltage regulator problem so got it fixed and trying to put it back, it is so hard to put those two ears in to cradle, it needs a strong tap not getting leverage from any direction. Do you guys have any tips? Taking it out was another story after strong dinner, 1 hr of cussing and using pry bar it came out.

WD-40 to help slide it into position? I don't believe I had a problem putting the alternator back in, but I did have the bolt sprayed down with WD-40 to help assist it coming out. Perhaps there was enough residual WD-40 to help it go back in.

I had to put the ear with bolt threaded sleeve on vise and press against a socket and mover a little back and was able to slide alternator back in and all good. 25 $ part gave me so much work
