Headlight replacements (other than Litronics)
I have the standard headlights on my 'S' & have thought about going clear and/or Litronics. At this point, I don't have the extra cash for the Lit's nor do I want to spend half that on clear when I really want Lit's eventually.
So, what other options have others tried & how did you like the results? This would probably be an interim step for me so probably under $500 a pair and I'm ok if they don't last the life of the car, too. I'm not looking to go all 'Audi' on the poor Boxster but I'm not opposed to LEDs.

Just be aware that due to the myriad of problems we see with cheap aftermarket HID and LED lights installed in these cars, we usually list them as “deducts” from the asking price when doing a PPI for a prospective buyer………

Understood. I planned on keeping the originals for when it's time to sell & give the buyer both options.

I have a (perhaps) stupid question. What do you mean by "clear"?

I presume by clear he means the later year standard headlight assy that omits the yellow lower section of the lens. Compare a 2004 with a 1997.
I did update my rears and sides but never could bring myself to spend for the clear headlights though I did prefer them. Well actually I wanted the LITs but within the last 5 years they almost doubled in price. |

Mike is correct. Here's a pic of my car; the amber turn-signel on the front would be gray...'clear' in the vernacular.

Ah. Gotcha. Thanks. I'm "new" to Boxsters.
![]() I just learned the hard way with a multi-year, ground-up restoration of an old MG. I didn't get top dollar on a resale because I painted it a non-stock color, to keep myself from entering it in shows. It did keep me from showing it and made me drive it, but it was much harder to sell. If you change your lights, be sure you can change them back!

I put in Euro low beams. They are almost as bright as high beams. They didn't make an Euro high beam. They are better than stock but not as good as my wife's Audi with HID. Cost about $30 I think.
