Hard Start - WOT Helps

I've associated my hard start with the crank position sensor. Got the part in the mail a month ago and tried to install it two weeks ago. However, either a prior owner or myself, has stripped the 5 mm hex bolt. I just haven't had the chance to get back in there to use the easy-out on it.

Maybe every 5-10 starts, I have the hard start issue. I've noticed if I floor the accelerator, the car starts. It stumbles, but it starts. Then, I've got to keep the RPMs up with the throttle for several seconds before the car will stay running.

For the experienced guys here, is my car still exhibiting symptoms of a bad CPS? Or do I have other problems? I did test my CPS, and pins 1-2 showed an open when it should have shown a closed. But just curious if I have other problems that could be causing this.
