Front-end squeak, but only when steering.
I picked up a new noise over the past few days. It sounds like a suspension squeak except it's not when I hit a bump; it's when I'm turning the steering wheel. It sounds like it's up front, not back at the power-steering pump.
I've changed my own oil but haven't done any chassis lube (since I don't see any grease points in the Bentley manual). Are there any points to lube the steering up front? Any other things to check? Thanks! |

I had a squeak when turning the wheel, even when parked with the engine off. I replaced the clockspring, which didn’t help. It turned out to be the posts from the clocksping where they meet the steering wheel. The are 2 slots in the wheel, above and below the nuts that holds the wheel on. The posts on the clockspring fit in those slots and, I guess, turn the clockspring with the wheel. There is a slight bit of play when the wheel turns, maybe 1/8”. I sprayed a little white grease in there, and the squeak is gone.
