Intrior color change

I'm looking at buy a Boxster. One I have my eye on has a beige interior that I'm not thrilled about. I'm thinking about changing it to red since I always wanted a black car with red interior. (Before you purists come unglued, this car isn't all that nice.) So the question is: has anybody really tried to do this and is it really feasible with some of the DIY products available?

A) just buy one with the color scheme you want already?

B) you can always buy the interior out of a wrecked Boxster. Or one that has a blown engine that's already being parted out. But I would imagine this would be rather pricey. If I really wanted to change the interior color of mine, this is the route I'd take.

Whatever car you end up getting, post pics! :)

Thanks for your comments. The problem is Porsche never offer a red interior (as far as I now) on the early Boxsters. The closest they had was a coral color, which would be acceptable if I could find one.

Look for someone in your area that can dye it. The previous owner of mine had it dyed. Although to the original color of Grey. They must have done it to get it looking good enough to sell. But if you find someone. Get references of his/her work. Although they did a good job dying it. The did a crap job of reassembling it. Screws missing. Parts not put back in right, etc.

The "Boxster red" color was pretty common on early Boxsters. Typically with silver. I agree, a red interior in a black car would be great. I'd do a swap in a heartbeat. And maybe that's the ideal setup. Find someone with the Boxster Red interior who wants tan. Buy a couple cases of beer and make a weekend out of it.

The color wasn't really red though. It was more like coral. It would at least be a better starting point though.

Well it was a brick red when new. Meant to look like a faded red from the 50s. But the carpet, especially goes pink pretty fast when exposed to the sun.
