Tirn signal not cancelling.

I have a 2000 2.7, no cruise, no trip computer. My turn signals will not cancel. at first, the left wouldn't cancel, and the right wouldn't work without my holding it down. then magically one day. both worked, but will not cancel. I'm getting conflicting info. One says it's probably the signal switch, the other says it's the switch and clock spring. Any ideas? Also, I have a switch from a car with both cruise and computer. If I remove the lower stalks will the switch work?

I have the same exact problem. Someday I'll take it all apart and deal with it. For now, I just manually cancel the turn signals after the turn is complete... I'd be interested in what you find is broken, if you get that far!
