Tiptronic Service Recommendation

We have an '07 Boxster S with a Tip that has 9K miles on it. The car gets used on nice weekends only, but when it gets used it is driven aggressively. It shifts perfectly. I wanted to get some opinions on having the Tip serviced (fluid change) given the car is now 5 years old. Thanks!

To my knowledge there is no time involved only miles. If the trans is shifting fine and not slipping then, in my opinion, with only 9K miles you could spend your money elsewhere.
My '99 Tip started to slip a little at 86K miles so I did the 90K service early and it ran like new again. Keep in mind though mine was not a weekend only car and it was being tracked and AX'd as well as driven hard during the week.

yes the trans service is millage based, iirc it's at 60k. if the car sees track use I would just keep a close eye for leaks.
when you do service it you'll do the filter, pan gasket, and the correct fluid (i believe out calls for pentosin atf1], you'll also want to change the differential fluid which iirc is a75/90.
generally I see the diff leak before the pan ever does, but it will depend on use and climate.....
doing it is a diy job if you don't mind getting dripped on......the fill procedure is fairly straitforward but must be done in a specific order.

In what year did the mileage for service drop to 60K? My '99 manual lists it at 90K.

I did say iirc.....
it may be 90, I can check my service tables tomorrow....

90 is correct, big however by a truster service tech and he said better to do it at 60. The ones he has done at 90 are pretty bad. I did mine at 60 and will do it again at 90. I use a large card board box with a trash liner for the first one drain. Since then have built a drain pan to ease the mess. Mine is an 01 so maybe a different set of numbers now but i doubt it.
