I did it.

Finally pulled the trigger on a Boxster. In case your curious its a '98, triple black, with 135K miles. Needs some work, but that was what I was looking for and this car seems to be a solid starting point.

Porsche Boxster-6 Cyl.-5 Spd.Roadster 2D/*CLEAN TITLE*

I paid considerably less than advertised price.

Not bad at all for the price. I'd definitely take the bra off, it looks hideous. What plans do you have for it?

That's alot of car for the money! I picked up a 98 Box with 117K last August for $4800...2 owner, very dirty and needed a top. I put about $800 in it bringing maintenance up to date and replacing the top (used top/frame). The car ran and looked great when I finished messing with it. No real gotchas.

One FYI,even after changing plugs and filters, the car felt like it idled a bit rough. I notice that the tach was rock solid so I went after the engine mount. Car felt like new!

Trust me, there is a reason the bra is on there.

This one does need some work like new shocks and probably a motor mount. Need a left side fan but I replaced that this morning. Also changed the oil. Didn't find anything bad in the oil and I took a sample for blackstone.

Overall I like the car as a package. I think it has a factory aero kit. Has anybody heard of such a thing?

It definitely has the aero kit trunk/spoiler, hard to tell on the front bumper though. Makes me wish I'd waited a little longer to find mine. I'm getting rid of my stock '01 S suspension with about 45k on it if you're interested.

Actually I am interested in your suspension as long as the price is fair, and the shocks aren't dead.

I think it has the aero front bumper as well. It doesn't look like a normal Boxster bumper. Too bad the PO was using for a curb feeler. Also has the aero side skirts.

Unfortunately somebody took off the option code sticker.

Brick, A piece of advise. For what it is worth. Hang on to your money for a month or so. See if everything is running well. Then upgrade parts. Just MHO. Good luck with you ride and wish you happy driving.

I know what your saying. But I'm not talking about upgrades. I just trying to fix what is broke. But I only have so much time to spare so no hurry I guess.

I cleaned it up a bit and it looks tons better now.

Re misfire: Check the battery and make sure its putting out good voltage. I found this out the hard way with a crappy Moll (OEM) replacement battery that I put in shortly after buying the car cause I wanted to stay stock. I picked up a sealed AC/Delco from my awesome local parts store and guess what went away.

You need to put your hands out the windows as you put the top up and guide the edges into the top rails before you shread the top. Noticed the top was not in the slips of the rails. I have to do the same thing. There's a fix for that. But for another day.

Yes, I noticed that and fixed it this morning. Also noticed both hod down cables are broke.

that's the factory aero kit I with the fairly rare long rear deck lid without the depressed area for the third brake light and stock raising wing.

Those are an easy fix. Buy new ones and there is just a little bolt that holds them in the side of the top. The stupid things aren't cheap. but very doable in an afternoon. when you have one.

Is there any way to tell if it has a sport suspension? Somebody took the build sticker off.

I'm surprised the top works fine without them. A friend of mine has a couple spares off his race car he will probably give me. Odd that they would both be broke and in the same place.

They probably won't fix the sliding into the grove in the right place. They're to pretty much hold the top in the back down.
The way the top fits into the slits is a different story and what makes that happen properly.

Might be worth decoding the VIN to see if it tells you...

I ordered a motor mount and 02 sensor from pelican today. My friend says he still has the suspension from his Box-S he will let me have.
