Trans slack (tiptronic)

Should there be this much slack in the trans....

I notice it taking off from stop signs and when braking and going around turns....

I took a couple of "measurements" and noticed the slack from "lock to lock" is 1.25" difference.

sounds like the diff is shot, it should not make that much noise. Can you hear it while driving or do you just feel a little jerk? (not referring to you)

LOL!!!
Don't hear anything while I'm driving. I just feel the thump if I moderately punch it from a dead stop. Also if I come to a turn, I brake then kit the gas, I notice it the most.

Yeah if you can feel it then it's definitely too much play. Have you checked the diff oil to see if you are filled up? (not trans oil)

unfortunately if will be too late for the problem you have now but at least it will keep it from getting worse. I have a good used box from an 03 with 8k on it if you should need one in the future

I just might be interested. Does the trans seporate from the diff?
