Bluetooth OBD2 readers and throttle values?
 

Will a standard bluetooth OBD2 reader give throttle position data on 986/987? I'm beta testing autocross track data software for Android that will except that data. The software developer is recommending this device...

We have never had much luck with cell phone based diagnostic tools, many of them tend generate false or completely misleading information. Sometimes it may be the way Porsche systems function, but in many cases, it is just cheap software with inadequate internal database information.

I've thought for years that one should be able to use a smartphone to analyze data and video. The bluetooth GPS interface is working well and other beta testers are reporting good throttle position data via bluetooth devices. I guess it will boil down to does the throttle position values transmit the same way through these devices as it does on othe makes. Perhaps I'll just borrow someones bluetooth OBD2 device at an event and see what happens.

Keep us advised whether any of the cheap ones work on pulling in engine data.

Should be a relatively easy thing to test - just look at the results on the phone compared to where your foot is? I don't think the engine needs to be running to transmit this data (it doesn't need to be running to measure throttle position with the factory PST-2).
