Locking Nut on Oil Filler Tube
Do any of your cars have this? Appears mine does not. Just seeing how important it is. Part# 31 in the photo is the funnel that pops out when you uncap the oil filler tube. From the photo, appears the locking nut screws down over the funnel, and then the oil cap fits over the whole thing?

It should have the insert, which is held in place by the oil cap (#30 in the picture); someone at some time probably removed it during an oil change and forgot to put it back. You should be able to get a replacement from a dealer.

Well, yeah. I wasn't very clear in my first post. I was asking if anyone had part# 30. Appears my car does not. When I uncap my oil filler tube, the funnel (#31) pops up.
Until seeing the photo at the link in my original post, I didn't know #30 (along with #29) existed. Guess I'll add these two parts to my next Pelican order. So, the oil filler cap screws down over top of #30, which pushes down on the funnel? And #30 exists to keep the funnel from coming out of the filler tube? |

No, wait. You're saying #30 is an oil filler cap? I thought #18 was the oil filler cap?

I did not look at the full picture, only the part in the upper left corner of the ad; now that I have seen the full picture, I have no idea what that "lock nut" is, I thought it was the cap.............

I wonder if it's an alternative cap? Or, maybe it's some sort of filter? Appears the center is shaped like a bowl, maybe the middle portion is a mesh screen? Heck, it's only $22.75. Maybe I'll include it in my next Pelican order, just to find out.

Sometimes I just want things that are missing from my car, just because... Just because *something* goes in that spot, and I'd like it filled. Complete. In fact, that's why I have that $80 umbrella that fits into the passenger side door sill. Useless, to me, as I NEVER use umbrellas. But, that empty hole kept calling out to me. So now, I have an $80 umbrella that I never use...

Just Noticed This Too... Did You End Up Ordering This?
bar10dah,
I'm trying to track down some pesky vacuum leak issues and noticed that I'm missing this part also. Did you ever order one and/or figure out what it's for? Thanks, John 01 986 SG/GG/BK |

No, I never did.
I'm curious if it's an optional part, maybe for ROW cars? |

Thanks. I asked my mechanic and he wasn't sure either. Even though it's not that expensive, I don't want to order a non-returnable part without some additional info. If I find out any more, I'll post again. Thanks.
