Boxster won't start
I have a 2000 S W/ 77k. Problems starting up when engine is warm. In the morning it starts go to work and park for hours. Come home car sits for 30 min. to an hour, go back out to leave and run battery dead. Charge battery, car sits for several hours cools down, full charge and then it starts This has happened twice in the last two weeks. From reading past post my guess is a failing fuel pump?

There are more knowledgable people on this board (I'm new to this one) - but I would also consider the fuel pump relay, or the CPS.

There is a set of quick and easy test for the fuel pump (do a search, this has been covered several times), which are done off the test port on the fuel rail. You attach a test gauge; look at both pressure, and fuel delivery volume. But you need to remember that if the crank position sensor begins to crap out when it gets hot, it shuts both the fuel and spark off because it does not see the engine turning over. Fortunately, the CPS is relatively easy to get at (it is on the bell housing).

my best guess is the CPS, I dont know of a test other than replacement, I think you can check resistance but this test is likely to be fine. My own experience with CPS failure is that it causes both the ignition system and the fuel system to stop. CPS failure is hardly unique to Porsches, I had one die like this in a Jeep and it drove me crazy until it was replaced, good luck

With the correct equipment, it can be tested, but you would need a PST II or PIWIS. You can test it for electrical continuity, but because your issue is intermittant, you may or may not see it.
