02 sensor
Ok so i just got a 1999 Porsche Boxster. The check engine light is on, so i took it to ammco to have them plug it in. the codes read that there are bad 02 sensors and 2 codes that he can not decode because its said on his scan that it had 2 other codes for the dealer.. not sure what that means?? so i know this is a long shot and it could be many things that are making that check engine light glow.. But does anyone know what other things could be causing this light to be on??? also I heard there is (4) 02 sensors on the car. are they hard to replace? I would like to do it myself. I appreciate any comments. please help!!! Thank you very much to all.SmileWavy

Porsches have "restricted code" areas in the computer (as do many other makes) that a general purpose OBD II scanner cannot see or clear. These require more specialized equipment that either a Porsche indie shop or the dealer will have. Get the codes read and write them down. Let us know what they are and they can be deciphered for you.
As for the O2 sensors, no, they are not hard to replace; but they are probably the most misinterpreted sensor because the way the codes read out, which confuses the uninitiated into replacing them when that is not really the issue. Get the codes............. |
Ac
Hey Thanks alot! i will get the codes. I posted a new question for another problem in the forum. let me know if you have any clue for whats going on with my AC. If i start the car and i turn the AC on, then the car wants to die while in idle. It has died a couple times. what do you think?
