Schnell Shifter Linkage upgrade?

Just wondering, has anyone done the schnell Shifter linkage upgrade while they were doing the short shift kit in their Boxster? I have the linkage upgrade, but I can't find instructions on what exactly to do with it ( I get that it snaps on the ball joint on the bottom of the short shifter) but I'm not quite clear how it attaches to the cable.

Also, do you need to do them in pairs?
