Gen 1 vs. Gen 2 Headers (cats)
So it appears that the life of my CATS has come to a close. 105k miles @ just under 7 years old - now getting CEL and the error code being O2 Sensor 2, Bank 2: Warm-up catalyst below threshold. I just left a VM for the local Porsche dealer to see if they will cover under federal or state emissions warranty. Not holding my breath, however.
I've already started cruising ads on the Evil Bay and Planet-9 classifieds. I see there are Gen 2 cats on Evil Bay for a decent price and was curious if they would fit and work with my current STOCK Gen 1 setup. The Gen 2 design appears to be a vast improvement with a true merge-collector style that sweeps back compared to the Gen 1 design which just looks more like a plain manifold you would find on early 2000's Ford Focus. So will the system from the down-pipes on from Gen 1 bolt up correctly to the Gen 2 catalytic converters? Thanks for reading - I'm hoping to find a solution here in the near future and would like to keep parts OEM if possible.

They should be warrantied for 8 years but I'm not sure if there is a mileage restriction. Check your owners manual to be sure. Either way take it to dealer to see if they will help. I have a pair of Fabspeeds with sport cats if you want to go that route for $1,500

No response from the local p-car dealer. Hm.
Anyhow, any word on the Gen 1 vs. Gen 2 fitment? Thanks.

The cats are 8 years or 80,000 miles, which ever comes first...........

Update: Spoke with a service writer @ the stealer - apparently warranty only covers 8 years or 80,000 miles - whichever comes first. At 105,000 I'm outside the coverage. Looks like I'm doing this shade-tree style if I can get replacements for a good price. Now to save, save, save...
