Where is this coming from?

This foam rubber blows out of my defroster vents. It feels tacky to the touch. I have replaced my pollen filter and vacuumed out as good as I could the duct area but it keeps coming? Where is this coming from?

Most likely the foam is coming from inside the heating / ac system. The doors, which control the flow of air, use foam like gaskets to seal the doors when closed.

from here:



this is how the AC air box looks like when its opened.
the two metal flaps suppose to be covered with the foam.
as you can see from the picture, just like in your case, most of it ended up in my face.

You can use this DIY that I made last august.
The project is not super difficult, but require a lot of time, and a lot of parts need to be removed.
