Ignition Key light stays on

The battery in my ignition key went dead today. Doors wouldn't lock or unlock with the key button. Thankfully it happened in the garage and the doors were unlocked.

Bought a new #2032 battery and installed it, but the doors still would not lock or unlock.

Then noticed that the light on the key itself was "on" all the time.

Removed the key battery and reinstalled it with no change. I removed the key module, but didn't know what to do then. All looked good. No broken solder paths. Pushed the top switch of the three just to verify that it worked and it clicked.
Reinstalled the battery and everything works fine.

Apparently, during the battery installation process I had accidentally pushed the switch to the "on" (?) position and it could not reset until I pushed it to the "off" position by hand and then re-installed the key battery.

Just thought I'd tell you in case it happens to you.
