I'm looking at a clean 98 Boxster with 64K miles. The owner states that the engine turns over fine, but will not start. Any Boxster owners experience this problem?
Would an IMS failure cause this? Thanks in advance! |

When the crank position sensor goes bad, the DME does not see the engine turning over and shuts off the fuel. Check your crank sensor.

If the IMS has blown up, will the engine even turn over? Or will it just crank with no resistance?

Sometimes the engine will still crank, sometimes not. It depends on if the timing chains have slipped timing yet. A bunch of ferrous metal frag in the oil filter is a good clue.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll start with the filter.
