Thrust washer ruined my crankshaft 02 S

Had metal shavings in my oil. took engine apart and found thrust bearing worn down, it caused crankshaft endplay that sounded like clutch release bearing noise. Crankshaft mating surface with thrust washer is scratched badly. I found a replacement 3.2 but it is from an automatic, mine is 6 speed. Direct replacement? or are there any things different I should be aware of?

There are two crankshaft part numbers per engine. That is most likely Tiptronic and manual differences.

Teezr there is no difference between manual & auto cranks. In 2001 Porsche changed the chain that connects the crank to the IMS. So you need a 2001 or newer crankshaft for your Boxster.

Speaking of needs, I need a bad crankshaft so I can mount flywheels & clutches on it for balancing. Please PM me if I can buy your old one.
