Tip[tronic temp control valve

I just posted in the 996 forum but meant for it to be here. What is the valve for? Mine is shot so coolant flows to the trans cooler full time. I would think that's okay considering I live in Puerto Rico was 70-100 degrees year round.
Any thoughts?

The coolant control valve on a Tiptronic transmission controls the amount of coolant flow going to the coolant to oil transmission cooler on the side of the trans. It maintains optimum transmission oil temps to protect the unit from overheating, which will destroy the transmission if there is no coolant flow.
