98 Porsche Boxster idle problem
I have a 98 Boxster, it had a bad AOS the car smoked very badly I replaced the AOS this fixed the smoking problem. now it will not idle right it will fluctuate from about .5 to 2 grand or will idle at a high idle about 2 grand and it kills at stops when you take foot off of accelerator. I have been told that when the AOS goes bad it could affect the Mass Air Flow Sensor. does anyone think this is my issue. e-mail is Darrin200367@yahoo.com new to the forum so not sure how this works

It might be the MAF sensor. It's easy enough to clean. IIRC, you need special type of trod driver to unscrew the bolts that hold it in place. Search clean MAF for more guidance.
It could also be that the throttle body got dirty when the AOS failed. It more challenging to clean, but doing so might cure your idle problem. Again, search the forum for the DIY Instructions. I just don't remember the specifics off the top of my head for either job. |

I have actually removed and cleaned it seemed to help for about a week and then started the same symptoms which lead me to believe that it was the MAF sensor???
