Follow up: figure it out. The rear trunk shocks came wtih the mountng bolt in the ends. Had to use a smal screw drive to patially pop the retaining clip out, the poped the mounting ball / bolt out of each, then they snapped right on the existing ball/ bolts. Good to go.
