Convertible top sticks to back of roll bar...

have a ’97 Boxster. About 3 years ago the top was replaced along with the motors and the window. The frame was reinforced. From day 1 the top hit the back of the factory installed roll bars (low) as it was coming up. I would stop the top, get out and push the top manually past the stuck point. I have loosened the six bolts that attach the frame and pushed it back as far as it goes, but it still hits, though it does not get stuck. After reading various forums I saw that there is an arm that is attached to the transmission on each side with ball/socket fittings.. My question is what is the effect of lengthening/ shortening the arm? Which way do I want to turn the ball/socket to get the top away from the roll bar...?

Thanks
LLOYD

This happened to me.... One of the lockwashers had fallen off. Funny thing is the washer was still in the car, just under the top. Also make sure the top of the rear storage compartment is tightened all the way down.
