HElp! what is this part on the engine?
 

I was changing out my air compressor on a 2000 boxster and this electrical connection was just hanging there and then I noticed the long vacuum tube was not connected to anything either. What is this piece, what does it do, and most important any idea what the other end connects too? Any help is appreciated! Its right next to the air cleaner on the driver side BTW.
