What's the deal with some post repeats?

I got this description from another thread on this forum

"i think the initial posts don't show up here until they get a response from pelican staff. it looks like pelican staff go through them in batches, so you don't get any for a month, then you get a bunch of them all at once."

Looks like Nick at Pelican has been cleaning out his mailbox.

These auto generated posts are horrible. I absolutely can't stand them. I miss the old pelican forum. I guess it's time to check out the 986 forum. When I see ten zillion auto posts like today I immediately click away.

10 zillion? There were 32 posts, which happens rarely, not daily.

If we are spouting statistics, you have 75 posts in 3 years, for .07 posts per day...... You just happened to check in on the wrong day this time.

Just because I'm not posting frequently doesn't mean I'm not checking in to see what's going on here. And just because I don't have a huge number of posts doesn't mean my opinion isn't worthy. I used to come here every day but these auto posts make me go elsewhere. If they happened rarely then nobody would make a stink about them because nobody would notice them. "ten zillion" is not a statistic and never was intended to be one but rather a statement of frustration.

Obviously he was exaggerating for emphasis. Translation: 10 zillion = AN ANNOYiNGLY LARGE AMOUNT. I got it, didn't you?

Of course. My point was the first post was a threat, based on dozens of auto-generated posts out of thousands of user-started threads, not worth jumping ship over, especially with the other benefits here. Most likely less than 1% of the total posts.

In any event, I've discussed the issue with Pelican staff, and have permission to combine these threads in the future, so there will be one per topic, less clutter....

Just remember I'm human, and it will not be done instantly/automatically.

Thanks for that dad911! I for one appreciate the effort.

BTW, after reading my "I got it , didn't you?" comment in retrospect I can see how that might have seemed rather snippy of me. Sorry about that! I sure didn't mean for it to read that way. Sometimes written conversation, as opposed to conversing face to face, can be interpreted a little differently than we intend. Hope I didn't offend.
