Help...so decided to remove the belt to inspect and noticed no cracks what so ever, now that I put it back on and turn on the car, the belt slips off the steering wheel pump. Don't know why. All I did was to remove to inspect. All was fine prior. Tried and tried so many times always following the routing sequence and making sure the belt was properly seated all around. Even tried a new belt that I had purchased from Pelican. Please help.

Is your picture a before or after picture? The belt is not lined up correctly on the pulley. If all was well and now you have a problem with two belts, the belt must not be routed correctly.

Belt slipping off the power steering pump

It's an after picture when I start up the car. I have followed the routing that pelican states and have retried so many times. I noticed that my steering wheel it self is slightly turned to the left because of the angle that I pulled into the garage. That has nothing to do with it right? Figured I'd just mention it.

Check that the belt is on the a/c compressor in the grooves of its pulley, its to the right of the PS pump....
Had a customer once who did this.....just look closely...
With the belt off is the PS pulley strait? Any wobble? Just spin it by hand

Yes I have check the routing and seating of the belt a million times. I think I figured it out though. The problem seems to be that the power steering pump is not aligned with the a/c compressor. The p/s pump is sticking out further then the a/c compressor which explains why the belt slides off towards the inside. See picture attached. It's a shot from the top view of the p/s pump (black) and the a/c compressor (sliver). I have no clue how it got that way and I have no clue on how to re-align. There is no play. Any ideas?

Correction: I have the names of he pumps backwards. The silver one is the p/s pump and the black one the a/c compressor.

Conclusion...so called my mechanic and after we both brainstormed for about 20 minutes wondering why or how these two pumps were misaligned he looked and asked out loud "I wonder if the power steering pump wheel was put on backwards"??? As soon as he said that I looked at him and said "I bet that's it"!!! Low and behold, he turned it over and then it slid in further and then it was aligned with the a/c compressor!!

Ahhh the purls of buying a used vehicle. And the idiot/s that put on the wheel on and for not checking his work. She's all put together now and all is good....I hope.

BTW...for those that are looking for a European mechanic in the Huntington Beach, CA area, call SMS European. His name is Brandon. He did my 30K service for half the price Porsche was charging.
