My 98 Boxster has loud chirp when running, related to engine rpm. Does not go away when belt is removed. Transmission is also removed right now. Replaced IMS bearing with no effect on chirp. Changed flywheel. Replaced camchain tensioners. Seems to be emanating from cylinder head just behind driver. I'm out of ideas, but hoping for a way to not pull the motor. Any suggestions?

There is a special tool called and engine ear. It is a microphone connected to headphones. while you hear the chirp put the microphone up to the drivers side valve cover and isolate the area of the noise and remove the cover and check for damage.
