I have a 2004 Boxster S with only 16,000 miles of light road use. It has just been diagnosed with Intermediate Shaft Bearing failure. After the initial shock wore off, I opted to have it repaired with an aftermarket kit at a cost of $2,000. Two questions: will this repair give a degree of confidence that the problem won't reoccur, or should I fix it and then immediately sell it?

Read the tech article thoroughly and see if lubrication problems may lead to other failures

Whew! Seems that you caught that bearing in time. With the IMS upgrade, you shouldn't have further grief but, as Nick says, check the other components (hopefully your mechanic already did this).
And it's a Porsche. Punch it a bit and let the oil flow! ;-)

Aside from reliability and future failure risk concerns, you should sell it because your level of use (16K miles in 10 years) doesn't warrant keeping it.
