Great website and resource. Thank you!
Am considering a Auto transmission 1999-2001 Boxster or Boxster S in the $7000-10000 range. I am comfortable working on cars Miata, Audi A6, VW Passat, Subaru WRX, Mini Cooper from exhaust swaps, sway bars, brakes, radiators, water pumps, and timing belts. What should I look for inside and outside when inspecting a used Boxster in this range? I will consider a mechanic inspection, as well, but I'd like to know what to look for during and initial drive and inspection. Let's also assume the seller only has a Carfax report and minimal service records. Thank you! __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: |
Check our tech article list for Boxtser vehicles, this will give you an idea of the common issues. The indicator is a well maintained vehicle. A vehicle someone has cared about and cared for will likely need less work if any. My suggestion is to pay for a vehicle PPI.

Congratulations!
Owl I congratulate you as you seek advice before purchasing the Boxster. As you probably know you either pay now or pay later. Doing your research and a PPI with a good indy shop can save you big $$$$$. Also 986 forum "buying a Boxster" is a good read. Enjoy your search!
