98 Boxster w/150k mi needs all new susp. Kit avail?
I am looking to order a complete kit of parts to rehab all four on a 98 Boxster. Track arms, springs, struts, mounts - all need to be replaced.
In addition, I would like to ba able to carry more (battery) weight as the next step is to replace the (very) tired gas engine with a high voltage DC motor. Objective is to out-perform a Tesla in as many metrics as possible; speed, accelration, range, cost. So, job one at this stage of the re-hab is the suspension. Any ideas on an approach that won't break the bank? |

Buy a Tesla - there's no way you're going to do it better and cheaper.

Forgot to mention - this is an educational project. Simply buying a Tesla wouldn't teach the students much - but I hear you!

Well, in that case, I can make you a deal - I'm about to install a ROW M030 kit in my car, and I can sell you the suspension that's on it now - it's a the US sport suspension and it only has 47K miles on it - I've never had any trouble and wouldn't be changing other than a ROW kit came up for a good price on another Board.
If that sounds like something you would be interested in, send me a PM.

That is an interesting idea - used parts... I will have to ask the project advisory board. The kit you are installing to cause your surplus of springs, struts and anti sway bars seems as if it will be short of the entire kit that our project seeks. Still, it is an interesting idea for me to share and get feedback on.

I've built an electric car using a 94 eclipse.
Are you planning on keeping the clutch?

I'd start by getting a Euro M030 kit and afterwards would consider buying used track arms/control arms from a p-car junkyard. If your scrapping the whole suspension I'd buy new tie rods and drop links while doing the above.
You could probably do all of the above for 2000-2500 depending on how much a junkyard charges per arm. Sounds like a really interesting project! |
