Transmission mystery 2001 Boxster Base

Hey everyone,

I finished my suspension kit, got 200 miles on the car, and BAM my transmission no longer shifts. Any suggestions on where to poke around before removing tranny and going internal.

1. Shifter linkage is fine
2. Shifter cables feel normal and nothing seems oddly placed/damaged on either end.
3. Clutch had zero slippage but was at least 8 years old
4. On the final drive my shifter was much more difficult to push into gear, and felt uneven/jagged once in position. The car eventually quit going through gears as I was going from 1st to 2nd.
5. No odd rattles or grinding noise from car
6. I can currently start the car and go through the gears but the clutch never "pops" as if I didn't shift correctly. For example: The car is idling but I've shifted into third and nothing happens.

All suggestions are much appreciated! Thanks.

Did you check you slave cylinder for you clutch. Is there fluid in it.Is it leaking or low? If your clutch is dragging it will be hard to shift into gears. Just a suggestion to try before you think of removing any large components.

I am doing my suspension right now, and I have the car in the air. I will check tomorrow on mine and see if I can tell what you may have an issue with. I am going out on a limb to say you may have tweaked something when you changed the suspension. It seems too coincidental that your transmission blew up just when you did the suspension.

Does the shifter move OK? Can you change gears without the clutch (that's sort of an old school move)? Etc?

Well, did you have to pry the rear member forward to get the flat tin plate back on? I did. Misalignment was probably because I use that member as a jack point, so I may have tweaked it a bit. I am going to keep my eye open for shift issues.
