What is the best service manual for Boxter??

The most useful is the original OEM 13 volume set from Porsche. Long out of print, you can still find them from time to time. Next would be the Bentley; not as detailed or as complete as the OEM set, but easier to find and a lot cheaper.

Are manuals for the recent models available in any form except to the dealer/OPC? Are they part of the diagnostic computer now?

My town's library has a subscription to the pro version of Mitchell On Demand and I used that to pull all my wiring diagrams (Mitchell re-writes wiring diagrams for their specialized wiring system). I believe that Mitchell still offers individual vehicle subscriptions (similar to AllDataDIY).
