2005 987 intermittently fuel cutoff. What sensors cutoff fuel?

My 05 987 is occasionally almost cutting off, when leaving a stop sign or light, or steady state driving. It feels like the car is suddenly not getting fuel. If I goose the throttle it comes right back up to idle or speed.
Originally thought to be the fuel pumps failure, but ruled that out.
The only attendant problem is that cruise control suddenly cuts off when I hit a big bump in the road? (Car has been well service, replaced RMS within last 1000 miles, already replaced MAF, etc).
What sensors could be the culprit for an intermittent but sudden fuel cut off at turn or launch?

Have the fault memory checked. There may be codes despite the light not coming on. Fuel pumps are not a common failure on these cars. Does it restart right away? More info on what is happening at failure would help.

It doesn't actually cut off completely. What happens is idle drops suddenly, as though the car is out of gas. When I feel acceleration drop off, I instinctively step on the gas peddle, "goosing" it, and idle, or the straight line speed I was maintaining is back. Right now, I can't detect a pattern, (e.g. turning right or left corners, starting off from a stop - most common - but it happened yesterday while cruising down a 40 mph road).
Could it be a clogged fuel filter if not the pump itself? I don't have a Durametric diagnosis tool (yet).

Our 987S did the exact same thing a few times very shortly after we bought it back in early 2011. After the 3rd or 4th time it did it over about a 1 week period it stopped doing it as mysteriously as it started and has never done it since. I suspect that it may have been a slightly clogged fuel filter which cleared itself.

Interesting. I was considering dropping in some fuel system cleaner (BG44) to see whether that would clear if it were a clogged filter.
I wonder if a code would be thrown if it were a clogged filter. I am considering getting a Durametric anyway, but wouldn't have right away.
